Navigation is all you need...

The first full day of training for the Euro-Arabian team. Having settled into our temporary home one of the first skills we needed to master was how to find our way around using GPS (which works exactly like the satnav in a car). The team learnt about latitude, longitude, degrees, minutes, seconds, nautical miles and how to plug coordinates into a GPS unit before trying out all this new knowledge on a mystery hike around the huts.

One group went off in search of a waterfall but found only mud and a rather long earthworm, while another group took on the forest not realizing how lucky they were to find a forest (trees are rare in Iceland). But everyone made it back to the hut eventually and training was declared a success!
